British Embassy donates IT-equipment

Following a renewal of the three UK Missions’ IT equipment, the British Embassy decided to donate its old equipment to R.U.S.Z, an Austrian charity specialized in overhauling household appliances and IT-hardware.  R.U.S.Z “tunes” old equipment to increase its energy efficiency.

Its activities thereby not only extend the time that equipment can be used, but also reduce electrical waste and save energy. This is in line with the UK Missions’ efforts in greening the embassy. RUSZ employs people who have a difficult time in the labour market, such as long-term unemployed. Its work therefore has an important social dimension.

Rather than the UK Missions’ electrical waste going to the garbage dump, it will be revamped and put to good use.  We hope this sets a good example for others to follow.
